WLA names new commissioner for 2017 season
The Burnaby Lakers lacrosse club welcomes the announcement of Paul Dal Monte as the Western Lacrosse Association's new commissioner.
[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="337"] Paul Dal Monte was named the new commissioner of the Western Lacrosse Association.[/caption]As a player and coach, Dal Monte proved himself a winner throughout his career in the game and the Burnaby club is confident that his commitment to growing the game in the west will continue in his new role as league commissioner.
Dal Monte brings a wealth of experience sports marketing background to the position, which heralds an exciting new future for the WLA owners, players and fans.
The Burnaby Lakers give Dal Monte our undivided support and wish him well in the upcoming WLA season.
The 2013 Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame coach won three straight Minto Cups with the junior A Burnaby Cablevision in the late 1970s before going on to a 12-year senior A career and three Mann Cup triumphs with the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
In 1995, Dal Monte took up coaching and helped the Burnaby junior A Lakers to seven consecutive league titles and three Canadian championships.
Dal Monte was also head coach and director of lacrosse operations for the NLL Vancouver Ravens from 2002 to 2004.
