Eli McLaughlin notched the Burnaby Lakers fifth-best back-to-back goals of 2016.

The skilled left-hander and NLL Colorado Mammoth runner counted his natural double in Burnaby’s 13-9 victory over the Nanaimo Timbermen in road game on Vancouver Island on July 10.

The two goals came late in the game, helping the visitors spoil an attempted comeback in the contest after Burnaby had squandered a four-point advantage halfway through the match.

McLaughlin, who had given the Lakers that 6-2 lead in the middle period scored his second goal of the game on a great reaction rebound effort off a long shot by Tyler Digby at 13:46 of the final frame to give Burnaby an 11-9 lead.

McLaughlin’s hat-trick goal came three-and-a-half minutes later on a hard shot from five outside the left perimetre from Dane Stevens and Scott Jones.

The back-to-back goals from McLaughlin were the fourth fastest among Burnaby Laker shooters this season.

McLaughlin led the Lakers in scoring in the win with a six-point night, including three assists to earn the game’s third star.
