No. 2 Best Burnaby Lakers back-to-back goals

It wouldn't be a true top-5 in any lacrosse category without a clip or two from Burnaby Lakers star Robert Church.

Church takes the second spot in This Fan's Favourite Burnaby Lakers back-to-back goals of 2016 with a pair almost seven-and-a-half minutes apart in a 9-7 loss to the Nanaimo Timbermen at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on July 5.

The two-time NLL Champion's Cup winner with the Edmonton/Saskatchewan Rush franchise collected three points in the loss with his first coming on a hard and well-placed shot off a screen to tie the contest up at 4-4 with an assist by Eli McLaughlin midway through the second period.

Church then completed the natural double late in the middle frame after Dane Stevens was hauled down digging for the net and Burnaby's season scoring leader Johnny-on-the-spot to pick up the loose ball and snipe home the go-ahead marker.

Church also had a second back-to-back goal outing earlier in the season in Burnaby's 14-2 rout at home over the Langley Thunder.

In that game, Church was the consensus first star, tallying a season-high eight points, including five goals.

Church scored his back-to-back second and third goals of the game in the first six minutes of the middle period to give the Lakers what would turn out to be an insurmountable 6-0 lead.

Jason Jones helped out on Church's second of the game at even strength at 2:23.

Church then completed the double less than three-and-a-half minutes later while shorthanded from Eli McLaughlin and Pete McFetridge.

The two goals by Church were the third-fastest back-to-back this season by a Burnaby runner.
