Lakers take season series from Burrards in goalie duel
First star Zac Boychuk allowed just two goals on 42 shots to lift the Burnaby Lakers to a 4-2 victory over the Maple Ridge Burrards.
Boychuk chalked up his fourth win for the senior A club, fashioning a 0.952 save percentage in the contest, while guiding the Lakers to a season series-clinching victory over the first-place Burrards at the Cam Neely Arena on Sunday.
Burnaby led 2-0 after the opening period on goals by Jason Jones and Justin Salt. Dane Stevens got the eventual game-winner in the first half of the middle frame on assists from Ilija Gajic and Salt. Third star Josh Byrne got a goal in the final period.
The Lakers will host the Langley Thunder at home on Tuesday, June 28. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
