Lakers take another blow from the 'Bellies
The Western Lacrosse Association season is beginning to look dire for the Burnaby Lakers following a 10-7 loss to the New Westminster Salmonbellies at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Friday night.
The Lakers kept pace with the visiting Salmonbellies until the five-minute mark of the second period and then New West counted five answered goals to take a 7-2 lead into the final frame.
Burnaby did its best to make a game of it in the third but the decision was never in doubt despite counting five goals of their own in response.
Logan Schuss did much of the damage, leading the Salmonbellies with an eight-goal night, including a single tally in the runaway middle frame.
Zac Boychuk got little help in the Burnaby cage and was called upon on a number of occasions to bail out the home club on 2-0 breakaways.
The Lakers are in Nanaimo this Sunday to take on the Timbermen.
