Lakers run out of ammo in Maple Ridge

The Burnaby Lakers blew a three-goal first-period lead and wound up on the losing end of a 6-4 loss in overtime to the Burrards in a Western Lacrosse Association game in Maple Ridge on Sunday.

Burnaby led the Burrards 4-1 in the opening minutes of the second period but failed to score for the remaining second half in a game where the Lakers were outshot 52-39 by the home team.

Laker keeper Zac Boychuk stopped 46 shots in the Burnaby cage, fashioning a .902 save percentage over four periods of play. Jackson Decker led the Lakers with three points, all assists.

With the loss, the Lakers' record fell to 1-1. Burnaby has the opportunity to reverse its first loss of the season in Langley on Wednesday.
