Lakers fail to hang on against A's

The Burnaby Lakers surrendered four goals in the latter half of the final period and fell 8-7 to the Coquitlam Adanacs in a Western Lacrosse Association road game on Saturday.

Burnaby led 7-4 midway through the third period on Steven Neufeld's first tally of the season, but Coquitlam struck back with four unanswered counters, including one shorthanded marker and two with goalie Dan Lewis on the bench for a sixth attacker.

Tyler Digby scored two times in the opening period in his first game with the Lakers this season. Jason Jones led the Lakers with two goals and a pair of assists. Robert Church also had a four-point night for Burnaby. Tye Belanger took the loss in goal but picked up a game star for the visitors.

Next up for the Lakers are the Victoria Shamrocks on Tuesday, June 21 at the Bill Copeland Sports Cente. Game time is an early 7 p.m. start.
