Lakers edged out of final playoff spot

Friday night's game vs the Nanaimo Timbermen was almost exactly even. After 65 minutes - including a five-minute period of sudden death, three-on-three OT - the final score ended in a tie at eight, the shots were 60-59 and not a single penalty had been called. The deadlock resulted in a tie in the standings as well and since Nanaimo owned the season series, they slotted into the final play-off position and ended the Lakers' 2019 season.

For fans who were looking for a great game, they got exactly what they'd asked for.

After one period, the Lakers held a 3-2 lead thanks to Robert Church's natural hat trick.

After two periods, the game was tied at four. Tyler Digby was the lone Lakers scorer.

Scoring heated up in the third with two more from Church and a pair from captain Dane Stevens, including the tying goal with just 4.1 seconds on the clock.

Eric Penney made 51 saves on the night.
